Their story
Marriage-based concurrent AOS, US citizen spouse. Entered on F-1 and was on STEM OPT at the time of filing, no overstay or unauthorized work. Hired an immigration attorney but did not bring them to the interview. Uploaded all supplemental evidence to the USCIS portal a few days before the interview, so the officer had already reviewed it. Officer said she could approve the I-130 herself on the spot, but the I-485 needed supervisor sign-off, which came the next day.
Questions the officer asked
- 1.Called in separately at first: how we met, when we got married, our daily routine, what our apartment looks like, our plans for the future. Then called in together, officer noted our answers were in sync, then only asked basic yes/no questions from the I-485 (no I-130 questions).
